The Manchester Mirror is partnering with the Manchester Chamber of Commerce to highlight different Chamber of Commerce members. This week we are spotlighting Jaimie Schmidt of Red Barn Realty.

Jaimie Schmidt, a Realtor at Red Barn Realty, says that for most of her life, she has loved history and how it impacts everything physically around us.

“Also, growing up in a family full of carpenters and artists gave me an amazing foundation to not only understand a building’s bones, but to also find reverence and beauty from the simplest of farmhouses to the grandest of Victorian estates,“ she says. “When I became a Realtor® in 2012, I found this massive gap where most agents don’t understand the importance of old properties. This included how to market, educate clients, and how to advocate for all levels of stewardship.

“With an abundance of knowledge and love of teaching, I filled this gap and have loved it every day since!“

Jaimie has also had the opportunity to present to the Manchester Area Historical Society and created an educational program for the Michigan Historical Preservation Network for Realtors in the area.

As a Realtor®, she specializes in old and historic homes and renovation. “In Michigan and within our industry, this is a rare thing!“ she says. “I especially enjoy educating clients, friends, and followers on social media outlets such as TikTok and Instagram about old homes and local history. This ranges from history and architecture to our renovating/restoration journey on our home or my clients’ homes, as well as fun, personal things like antiques, family life, and hobbies!“

Fostering a genuine love for and fascination about historical stewardship with her clients gives her a deep feeling of satisfaction, and she prides herself in being “not your average agent.” She tries to strip away the stereotypical fancy car and business clothes and bring experience and superb guidance to her clients in a way that creates an important sense of comfort and trust.

Growing up in Stockbridge and living for many years in Milan, three years ago Jaimie and her husband had the opportunity to purchase an older “dream house“ right on the River Raisin. She says that Manchester is a great fit for them.

“While I can and do service any age/type of residential real estate, my passion lies in small towns and old homes,“ she says. “I love to work with my clients in either preparing a property for sale or consulting on work improvements or repairs done after the purchase: everything from picking period-appropriate colors and lighting to finding the right tradespeople to work on the home. I bring the same enthusiasm and effort to every property and client, regardless of price!“

Jaimie became a member of the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce to get her feet wet within the community, increase visibility, and get to know people. Contact Jaimie at (734) 660-6561 or Home@JaimieSchmidt.com.
