CRC to once again offer wooden nickels for Farmers Market
by Sara Swanson
The Community Resource Center (CRC) will resume its wooden nickels program for 2023! They will be at the Farmers Market each week offering their current food pantry clients wooden nickels to use to purchase fresh produce, honey, eggs, and seeds, as well as fruit, veggie, and herb plants. Each wooden nickel is worth $2 and clients can receive $20 worth of nickels every two weeks.
The nickels are nontransferable and no change is given back if the item purchased is less than the value of the wooden nickel. Wooden nickels can’t be used on craft items, baked goods, flowers, tea, coffee, dairy items, meat, deli items, condiments, alcohol, or maple syrup at this time.
The Farmers Market will be held at Chi-Bro Park located at 209 Ann Arbor St (M-52), every Thursday from 3 to 7pm, May through October. The CRC will also have new client applications, as well as information on other resources available to the Manchester Community, at the Farmers Market. Clients can opt to pick up their wooden nickels at the CRC office by appointment instead.
No appointment is needed to pick up wooden nickels at the Farmers Market. To schedule an appointment at the CRC, or if you have questions, call (734) 428-7722.
