Freshman wrestler Sammy Stewart continued his successful season as he went up to Lansing two weeks ago for the NuWay Nationals. He went 4–0 on the day to bring home his first-place belt. NuWay is an optional program that goes beyond the conventional wrestling season for high schoolers, and Sammy chose to wrestle in the additional competition.

Sammy, who ended up with 19 wins in an injury-shortened season, was only the second freshman in Manchester’s history to win a State Championship, which is a huge accomplishment.

“This is a big achievement for him,” said head wrestling coach Steve Vlcek. “I can’t wait to see what is in store for him in the years to come.”
