The end of June was busy at the Manchester District Library (MDL), celebrating the mid-way point through the Summer Reading Program, “All Together Now,” with multiple activities embracing that theme! Monday evening, June 26, at 6pm, the very talented Joy Matthews shared how to create beautiful wall art with vintage jewelry, putting the pieces “All Together Now.”
On June 27, Tuesday afternoon and evening, all ages from 11 months to 74 years worked “All Together Now” to create Mixed Media Collage Art.
Wednesday, June 28, from 4 to 6pm, the local Manchester restaurants worked “All Together Now” to provide the best food and beverage in Michigan. Anna from Millie’s Coffeehouse brought both decaf and regular coffee; “Baby Boy” Joe from River Raisin Distillery brought refreshing pink lemonade; and Nan Farley and Joel Dalenburg from Manchester Market brought their famous chicken tenders and Mac & Cheese. Manchester’s Jazzercise team, consisting of Lynette, Lisa, Yvonne, and Sue, shared their excitement “All Together Now” with a mini Jazzercise class. The Harveys donated their bubble tent for the event and Alex Duranczyk, Coalition Director, and Anna Webber, Program Coordinator, from SRSLY shared good times with multiple game choices.
Lila Harvey and David Nelson, along with Gary Seguin, worked to monitor the bubble tent. Beth Box also volunteered and was an especially big help with the clean-up crew!
It was a great event as we saw so many aspects of our community truly work “All Together Now.”
