This summer there will be two opportunities to gather for an evening of free movies and snacks with the return of Movie Nights at Manchester United Methodist Church, 501 Ann Arbor St, Manchester (the church next to Klager Elementary).

On Friday, July 28, we’re planning an indoor showing of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa at 7pm. In this second of the fun animated Madagascar series, the New York zoo animals crash-land on an African nature reserve in Kenya, where they meet others of their own kind and Alex discovers his royal heritage as prince of a lion pride.

On Friday, August 18, we’ll be moving outdoors to enjoy the animated movie Cars at 9pm (or whenever it gets dark enough). Set in a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic talking cars and other vehicles, it follows a hotshot rookie race car named Lightning McQueen who, on the way to the biggest race of his life, gets stranded in Radiator Springs, a rundown town that’s past its glory days, and learns a thing or two about friendship, family, and the things in life that are truly worth waiting for. You’re welcome to bring blankets, chairs, pillows, etc. to sit on outside.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Free drinks and snacks will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own favorites, too. Hope to see you there!

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
