Joanna Walton, 95, of Pinckney, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. Joanna’s family and friends will gather on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 10am to 11am at Community Bible Church (8400 Sharon Hollow Rd, Manchester, MI 48158). Her funeral service will follow at 11am. Pastor Ron Clark will be officiating the service. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dexter, Michigan.

Joanna was born on May 22, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to Julius and B. Gorski. Joanna married the love of her life, Walter J. Walton, and they were happily married for 49 years before his passing. Joanna graduated from Western High School in Detroit. She was on her school’s field hockey and diving teams. Joanna loved all Michigan sports. Her favorite sports teams were The Detroit Tigers, The Detroit Red Wings, The Detroit Pistons, The Detroit Lions, The Michigan State Spartans, and The Michigan Wolverines. Joanna enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards. At family gatherings she would always end up at the table playing cards. Spending time with her family was important to Joanna and they spent many holidays and occasions together. Later in life she got her certification as an EKG technician, which she was extremely proud of. She valued her time spent at her house on the lake as well as time spent in her cabin Up North. Joanna was a part of several bowling leagues and bowled up until she was 92 years young.

Joanna will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Walton and Kenneth (Ann) Walton; sister-in-law, Helen Gorski; grandchildren, Kent (Melissa) Walton, Melissa (Todd) Alverson, Edward (fiancé Nousha) Walton, and Eric (Deanna) Walton; and great-grandchildren, Lilley, Riley, Luke, Jayce, Jack, Thomas, Henry, and Samantha. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; and her brother Edwin Gorski.
