River Raisin Distillery will be hosting a Manchester trunk-or-treat from 1 to 3pm on Sunday, October 29, on Elton Street as a Downtown Development Authority–approved event. They would like to invite all interested local businesses, organizations, and patrons to come decorate a trunk, pass out candy, or hand out promotional material.

“This is our first event so we are not sure how many kids we will get,” said Kate Austad, who is organizing the event for the distillery. “The poster will be going out in the school’s email, so I am expecting a lot.”

A local business is donating a bounce house that will be a fun draw. The group is still looking for someone to hand out cider and doughnuts, so if you would like to do so please let Kate know by emailing kaustad@riverraisindistillery.com.

About a dozen businesses have committed so far; please let Kate know if you would like to come so they can block off enough space for the event. Attached is the poster; feel free to post on our Manchester social media. A Facebook event page has been created that can also be shared.

This is totally voluntary, but organizers have heard that the town wants more events.

“This is something fun that everyone can be a part of,” Kate said. “For trunk decoration I grab Halloween décor from my yard or you can get kits online. Anyone who has any questions is welcome to email me.”

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
