Please take notice that the Columbia School District will be voting on the following operating millage renewal proposal as presented and listed below:

Columbia School District Operating Millage Renewal Proposal

This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate of not to exceed 18 mils on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance and renews millage that will expire with 2024 tax levy.

Shall the currently authorized millage rate limitation of 19 mills ($19 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) on the amount of taxes, which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Columbia School District, Jackson, Lenawee, Washtenaw, and Hillsdale Counties, Michigan, be renewed for a period of 5 years, 2025 to 2029, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and 18 mills are levied in 2025 is approximately $5,081,155 (this is a renewal of millage that will expire with the 2024 tax levy)?

Absentee ballots are available for all elections; registered voters may contact the local clerk to obtain an application for an absent voter ballot.

To comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille. Arrangements for obtaining the instructions in these alternative formats can be made by contacting the township clerk in advance of the election. All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities.
