The Manchester District Library (MDL) is thrilled to announce the official reopening of the Claire Reck Local History Room in a brand new space. Located in a suite on the lower level of City Hall at 912 City Rd, the History Room now offers expanded collection space, work and meeting facilities, and dedicated resources for researchers.

The Claire Reck Local History Room houses a collection of materials on the history of the City of Manchester and surrounding townships (Bridgewater, Freedom, Manchester, and Sharon). These include newspaper archives, published histories of the area, collections of old photographs, original typed or handwritten records, and newspaper clippings.

Due to the rarity and fragility of items in this collection, access to the History Room is available by appointment only at this time. Appointments can be scheduled for Mondays noon to 5pm; other days and times may be available upon request. To schedule an appointment, please contact the library by phone at (734) 428-8045 or by email at request@manchesterlibrary.info.

Manchester District Library is proud to serve the City of Manchester, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Village of Clinton and Clinton Township residents are also eligible for MDL library cards and welcome to use all MDL resources.

Current MDL hours are Monday–Thursday, 10am–8pm; Friday, 10am–6pm; and Saturday 10am–2pm. The most up-to-date hours and the latest news are always available on the MDL website.
