Elizabeth Annie Gonyer (May 13, 1940 – April 7, 2024)

Elizabeth Annie Gonyer, 83, of Manchester, passed away at Hospice of Lenawee on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Liz’s family and friends will gather on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 10am to 11am at Community Bible Church, 8400 Sharon Hollow Rd, Manchester, Mich. Her memorial service will immediately follow at the church at 11am. Burial of ashes will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester. Pastor Ron Clark will officiate.

Liz was born on May 13, 1940, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Frank and Ruth (Vacek) Oates. She moved to Manchester as a young child and graduated from Manchester High in 1958. She married the love of her life, Larry Gonyer, and they spent nearly 60 years together until his passing in 2018. Liz will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who never met a stranger. Liz worked for 18 years at Manchester Market; she volunteered at Worth Repeating; and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active with the Manchester Seniors.

Liz will be missed by her children, Lynn Gonyer, Mark (Brenda) Gonyer, Lori (Dan) Capal, and Robb (Amy) Gonyer; grandchildren, Sarah, Rebekah, Matthew, Andrew, Josiah, Joshua, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Megan; a brother-in-law, Conrad Gonyer; a sister-in-law, Dolores (Jim) Bauer; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; and a brother, Bruce Oates.
