The Community Resource Center (CRC) announced last week that it will resume its wooden nickels program for 2024. They will be offering eligible community members $20 in wooden nickels twice per month to use to purchase fresh produce, honey, eggs, and seeds, as well as fruit, veggie, and herb plants. Wooden nickels can be picked up at the Farmers Market or at the CRC office by appointment instead.

The Farmers Market will be held on Adrian Street, downtown, every Thursday from 3 to 6pm, May through October. The CRC will also have new client applications as well as information on other resources available to the Manchester community at the Farmers Market.

Melissa Licavoli, CRC’s assistant director, stated, “This program brings healthy, fresh, local produce into more homes and helps support our local growers. We are proud of the continuation of this program and the support we have received from Chelsea Hospital and the Manchester Farmers Market.”

No appointment is needed to pick up wooden nickels at the Farmers Market. To schedule an appointment at the CRC, or if you have questions, call (734) 428-7722.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
