On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Manchester Family Services (MFS) held a luncheon at Frank’s Place to honor board members who have achieved Emeritus status.

Honored were:

Webb Seegert, past president who replaced Deneine Schaible in 2004, is receiving this award posthumously. As president he was ever present at distribution days, housed supplies, and officiated and signed all legal documents. A very stalwart man. His daughters, Alicia and Teresa, were in attendance to receive the award in his honor.

Mary Sue Moore, secretary who replaced Jean Little in 1997. Mary Sue was active handling bookwork, correspondence, ordering of supplies and food, securing the venue, and organizing the volunteers. Her daughters, Julie and Cathy, were in attendance. We are proud to announce that Cathy will be taking over her mother’s role as secretary and is already taking special care when ordering that the food distributed is balanced in all the nutrition needs of our clients.

Ellen O’Sullivan joined us in 2019 replacing Denise Dresch. She was able to help us transition during Covid to the method we currently use of handing out pre-bagged items. Her main responsibility was in packing the refrigerated items, which were varied and had to be packed per individual as to their choices. She also supplied us with assorted homemade cookies, a treat volunteers all appreciated on distribution days.

MFS may provide assistance with emergency needs, including food, utility bills, prescription costs, rent, and mortgage payments. Must be a resident of the Manchester school district or the townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Manchester, or Sharon.

There have been many others who have served who will be honored in the future. We thank them. And we appreciate all our volunteers past, present, and to come. If you would like to volunteer your time once a month on the third Wednesday, give us a call/email at 734-428-7183 or manchesterfamilyservice@gmail.com.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
