Each year, as trees grow taller and the community changes, the “best spots” to watch the fireworks evolve, as this photo attests. Mirror staff photo.

The Manchester Men’s Club Fireworks show is one of the most popular attractions in town, and the fact that you can watch them from almost anywhere in town for “free” is another plus, especially for larger families who may feel obligated to pay for their children per head, not to mention toys and treats from the vendors at the park.

You may have heard… or even said, “Oh, yes, we always go to ____; you can get a great view of the fireworks. It’s not as noisy and you don’t have to pay to get into the park. Come with us!”

While it is true that loud fireworks can be scary for some little kids or pets, it can be crowded at the park, and other issues, one thing that is not true is that the event is “free.” Just ask any member of the Men’s Club. Fireworks are expensive; obtaining certification to be able to purchase them and shoot them off is also costly. When people don’t come to the park and make their donations, it affects what can be budgeted toward next year’s expenses.

This year, Worth Repeating was the major sponsor for the event, along with American1 Credit Union and Brookside Golf Course. The Club also acknowledged the support of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Manchester Township Fire Department for lending all their assistance and expertise, and the people of Manchester for their donations. You can still donate for next year by sending a Venmo to the Club — @manchestermensclub.

And while doing that, send us a picture of your favorite spot to watch the fireworks! We at the Mirror obviously need a new one!

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
