Eddy Discovery Center is located at 17030 Bush Rd, near Chelsea.

The Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center is located at 17030 Bush Rd, Chelsea, Mich., just 10 minutes north of Sharon Township, in the Waterloo Recreation Area. Public programs for September 2024 are sponsored by the Waterloo Natural History Association. Advanced reservations are required for all programs, which are presented at the Eddy Discovery Center in the Waterloo Recreation Area and are sponsored by the Waterloo Natural History Association. Everyone is welcome to join WNHA. The cost is $2/person or $5/family unless otherwise noted, but members are admitted free. A State Recreation Passport is required for entry to the park.

FALL FLORA OF WATERLOO STATE RECREATION AREA: 2–4:30pm, Sunday, September 8. Join naturalist Robert Ayotte for an investigation of fall flora in the vicinity of the Eddy Discovery Center. We’ll look at asters, goldenrods, sunflowers, spotted coralroot orchids, and discuss just about anything that is blooming or fruiting at this time of year. Be prepared for about 2.5 mile of easy walking along the trails. Bring a loupe (hand lens) or borrow one from the Eddy Discovery Center. Cost: $2/person or $5/family with State Recreation Passport. Program limited to 16 people. Please register in advance at (734) 475-3170.

RAPTOR MIGRATION: 2–3pm, Sunday, September 29. Francie Krawcke of Michigan Avian Experience will bring several raptors, including hawks, a turkey vulture, and an eagle, and discuss how and why they migrate. Cost: $2/person or $5/family with State Recreation Passport. Program held at the Eddy Discovery Center. Please register in advance at (734) 475-3170.
