Fall is a wonderful time for family fun. At Windy Rock Farm, we enjoy the return of fall each year with a special event — Fall Days. This is our fourth year hosting this event, held the second weekend of September (13th–14th, 2024), 9am–5pm at Windy Rock Farm, 6750 Sharon Hollow in Manchester.

It all began with a brainstorm of ideas to host a special fall event on our farm. The first year we set up in a rustic lean-to shelter. We had large, hardy mums and other fall décor, lots of homemade crafts, and fresh baked goods. It was so successful we planned to make it an annual event.

When the lean-to was destroyed in a tornado in the summer of 2023, we knew we needed to move our event to something bigger and better. Our 2023 event grew larger as we displayed our homemade crafts and baked goods in our newly constructed greenhouse. We also had the wonderful addition of sheep, miniature horses, and a blacksmithing demonstration.

Much work and planning has gone into making this the best Fall Days yet. New things to enjoy this year include live demonstrations teaching trades of by-gone years, tractor and farm implement display, and free pony cart rides. Demonstrators include a spinner from neighboring Heskett Haven Farm, a blacksmith from nearby Green Pastures Farm, a basket weaver, corn shelling, and more.

Windy Rock Farm’s fresh, homemade baked goods, which get rave reviews by those who have tried them, will also be available, including apple, pumpkin, and blueberry cream pies, soft German pretzels, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin quick bread, chocolate chip cookies, and salty, chocolate-drizzled and caramel popcorn. Come and enjoy this fun and educational weekend with us.

Fall décor items including huge hardy mums, cornstalks, and straw bales will be available for sale.

A special thank you to George and Brenda Macomber for their help and support with Fall Days and for bringing their miniature horses, which were enjoyed by all who came last year. Also to the Green Pastures Farm brothers for their continued help with ideas, setup, and demonstrations, and to all our other demonstrators for sharing their time and talents to make Fall Days a success. We could not do it without you! For more information, call (734) 358-8260.
