Farmers Market plans last three events of season
by Marsha Chartrand
As October falls and temperatures start to dip, it’s a great time to stock up on produce that can be stored or preserved. And don’t forget the hearty breads and pastries of autumn; a warm mug of coffee or tea; and the handcrafted gift items you’ve been eyeing and saving for these past few months of the summer, with holiday gift-giving in mind.
The Manchester Farmers Market has all of this and more coming in the next three weeks!
There’s still a sense of excitement and anticipation in the air at MFM as the days get shorter and the countdown to ending the 2024 Market season begins. Dana Turner-Queen, market manager, described what’s coming up and other exciting developments for the future.
This Thursday, October 3, join Keegan from the Lakehouse Bakery for an intermediate baking class, which should be fun and intriguing for all but the most “basic” bakers. Keegan is always full of new ideas and projects.
Need a rich, hot cuppa tea to accompany your fall oatmeal? On October 10, Isaac from Paper Cup Coffee Company will present a demonstration on the various teas that can hit the spot at just the right moment. And it probably wouldn’t be at all surprising if a cup of coffee slipped its way into the class.
And to wrap it up on October 17, a chili cook-off will be making its debut. It’s a People’s Choice Event, so you get to help choose the winner! Space for chili cooks is limited but still available … sign up this week if possible!
