On November 26 at the Clinton Township Library at 7pm, Dr. James Davis will present some new ways of looking at the Civil War, how and where it was fought, and some of the little-appreciated results. The Historical Society of Clinton is honored to have Dr. Davis as a member and speaker. His grandfather was a doctor in Clinton and his father grew up in the Village. The public is invited to attend.
Living now in Dexter, James Davis was raised in Dearborn and received his PhD at the University of Michigan. He was employed by the Dearborn Public Schools from 1962 to 1971, and then after earning his PhD at the University of Michigan, he taught from 1971 to 2011 at Illinois College, a Phi Beta Kappa liberal arts college in Jacksonville, Ill., founded in 1829. He has published the following books: Frontier America, and Frontier Illinois.
In addition to using the Manchester District Library, Manchester and Bridgewater Township residents can get a library card for free to check out materials from the Clinton Township Library. The Clinton Township Library is located at 100 Brown St in Clinton. Questions? Call (517) 456-4141.
