Boil Water order in effect, Nov. 13-15
submitted by City of Manchester
At around 9:30 a.m. on November 13, 2024, the City of Manchester had to depressure the water main that services the homes on the red area of the map. The depressurization occurred due the accidental removal of a water line that was pulled out of the water main. To safely fix the issue, the City of Manchester had to depressure the water main. Residents of this area are advised to boil water while under this notice. Residents will be advised will be the boil water notice is lifted, which is anticipated to occur on Friday, November 15, 2024.
The project that caused this boil water notice is the City of Manchester’s Lead Line Removal Project. The City of Manchester resumed this program at the beginning of November. When the project was resumed, the City of Manchester had 56 lead lines that needed to be replaced. So far, 11 lead lines have been replaced with another two (2) anticipated being replaced this month. This program is funded with funds obtained through the State of Michigan through the help of State Senator Jeff Irwin and with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. As this program continues, the City of Manchester appreciates your patience and understanding as lead lines are removed from the City of Manchester’s Drinking Water Program. For more information on the program, please contact Michael Sessions, City Manager, at (734) 428-7877.
