“I’m having flashbacks to my childhood, waiting anxiously for Santa’s arrival,” says local author Breeda Miller.

Delivery of her long-awaited book, Mrs. Kelly’s Journey Home: Stories of an American Family, is scheduled for early this week. With the holiday and weather concerns, she is a bit nervous about the timing. Apart from the book signing event next Sunday at the Manchester Historical Society at 1pm, she is preparing for the DetroitPBS interview ahead of the December 16 broadcast of the play of the same name.

“I’m taking lots of deep breaths, praying, and sending positive thoughts to the printer,” she says. Always a planner, Breeda has her bases covered. Whether the books arrive or not, the book signing event will go on with a presentation that will include details of the journey to write and publish the book and the story behind the PBS broadcast.

Breeda will read a few passages from the book and possibly perform a few bits from the play. Attendees may purchase the book at a special event price, and the signed copies will be available for pick up or delivery as soon as they arrive, if they are not here by Sunday.
