The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) announced $9.4 million in investments, improving approximately 37 miles of paved and unpaved roads across Washtenaw County during the 2025 construction season. These important projects are made possible through a combination of funding sources, including the 2025–2028 Four-Year County-Wide Roads and Non-motorized Millage, federal funds, township partnerships, and Michigan transportation funds. In the Manchester area, this includes $250,000 from the millage going toward resurfacing the gravel McCollum Road between US-12 and Burmeister in Bridgewater Township.

“This year’s resurfacing program is just one of the ways WCRC is committed to protecting the county’s transportation infrastructure,” said Brent Schlack, P.E., Director of Engineering and County Highway Engineer. “The successful completion of these critical projects requires a blend of resources and collaboration.”

Construction is slated to begin in mid-April and will continue through the fall of 2025, weather permitting. There is not yet a specific start date for the gravel resurfacing of McCollum Road. As part of this program, WCRC will also undertake necessary forestry work to maintain the safety and integrity of the roadways.
