The Manchester Community Schools announced last week that the community is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the extensive renovations of the Manchester Athletic Complex Bond Project on Friday, March 21, 2025, beginning at 1pm at Dutch Stadium. Superintendent Dr. Brad Bezeau stated, “This renovation represents an investment in the future of our children and the future of our community. We are thrilled to see this vision come to life and are grateful for the support and dedication of everyone involved in making this possible.”
The improvements will include an upgrade from a six- to eight-lane track, a new track surface, new areas and surfaces for track and field events (including the shot put and discus, and Long Jump areas), enhancements to the north and south entrances, a new plaza entry with ticket booth on the north end (the existing west end ticket booth will remain in place), and upgrades to the bleacher areas including updated ADA and safety landing and seating areas, as well as platforms leading directly into the press box from the bleachers. The renovations are being funded with the bond passed by voters in November of 2023 and are scheduled to be completed before the opening of the 2025-2026 school year.
The groundbreaking ceremony will feature speeches from district leaders, a ceremonial turning of the soil, and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the renovation plans and the intended positive impact on the school and the community.
Dr. Bezeau concluded, “This is an exciting time for Manchester Community Schools and the entire community. The renovations at the Manchester Athletic Complex will not only enhance the participation and event environment for our students but also serve as a source of pride for the entire community. It’s a great example of what we can achieve when we come together with a common purpose.”
