Obituary: Chris Strong

Chris Strong, June 27, 1955 – March 19, 2025
Chris Strong, 69, of Manchester, Michigan, passed away at home on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1955, in Adrian, Michigan, to Ron and Maureen Strong.
On July 13, 1984, Chris married the love of his life, Josie Strong, in Toledo, Ohio. In the last 40 years they’ve enjoyed camping trips with their kids and many getaways to Florida.
Chris was a devoted father to Eric (Nicole) Strong and Krista (Allen) Scharpenberg and a proud grandfather to Aiden, Ryker, and Wesley Strong, and Waylon Scharpenberg, who brought him so much joy. He is also survived by his mother, Maureen, and his brothers, Craig, Doug, and Jay Strong, along with his many nephews and his niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Strong.
Chris grew up in Manchester and attended Manchester Schools. From 1972 to 1975, he was enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.
Chris was often found on the golf course or at the bowling alley. He has four hole-in-ones that he often spoke of. In his prime bowling days he bowled over eighteen 300 games. He loved to give tips and tricks to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed shooting pool at the Village Tap and fishing.
Chris was always willing to lend a hand and loved radish duty at the local Chicken Broil. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and was loved by many in the Manchester community.
In keeping with Chris’s wishes, there will be no formal service. His family will honor his memory privately.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His quirky personality and sense of humor brought countless good memories, and he will often be remembered with a funny story or a shared laugh.
