Before April comes to a close, SRSLY Manchester is highlighting the importance of Alcohol Awareness Month. This is a time to raise awareness about the risks of alcohol misuse and to support individuals and families who may be struggling.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), excessive alcohol use contributes to more than 140,000 deaths in the United States each year. By promoting prevention strategies and increasing public understanding, we can help reduce the harm caused by alcohol misuse.

“Alcohol misuse impacts individuals, families, and entire communities. Whether it’s through education, support, or access to services, we all have a role in addressing it and keeping this conversation going all year round,” said Alexandra Velgos, SRSLY Manchester Coalition Director.

SRSLY Manchester is sharing educational materials provided by SAMHSA to help raise awareness and provide resources. This includes guidance on recognizing unhealthy drinking patterns, information on how alcohol affects mental and physical health, and treatment and recovery services.
