A handful of local citizens came out to the Village Room on Saturday morning for a meet and greet with newly-elected Sheriff Alyshia Dyer (and coffee and donuts, of course!)
Dyer brought along several of her support staff and participants brought diverse viewpoints to the the Q&A session event, which lasted about 45 minutes after the meet and greet. Coverage (or lack thereof due to staffing shortages county-wide) 24/7 was one issue that was discussed, and the cost of coverage was also a point of interest. Dyer was transparent about the complexities of the numbers, while still transitioning from a very different leadership style.
“We hit the ground running on January 1,” she said, “And we haven’t stopped since.”
Saturday’s event was the first of many coffee hours that are planned for around the county, that will help her get familiarized with the communities she serves.
