Leonard Preserve is home to multiple types of prairies, including dry sand prairie, tallgrass prairie and restored prairie, each with a different soil profile. Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation (WCPARC) invites you to go beneath the surface of the prairie to explore the complex mosaic of soils that the melting glaciers left behind. Join WCPARC on Friday, August 1, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at the Leonard Preserve (parking lot located at 375 N Union St) to explore these connections as you enjoy the late summer prairie at sunset. Pre-registration required. Register at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org, click on “841009 Summer Adult Nature Hikes” and select “Friday Night Geology Hikes: Soils”. There is no fee to participate. Email severances@washtenaw.org with questions.
