The newly formed Friends of Watkins Lake State Park (FoWL) invites you to an open house being held Sunday, August 24, from 2 to 4pm, at Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve. Come celebrate with us and enjoy the unique attributes of the Park and adjacent Preserve. The event will conclude with a walk from 4 to 5pm to see more of the park up close if you are interested. The Park is located at 14801 Arnold Rd, Brooklyn.

FoWL is hosting this event to raise awareness and generate support for FoWL’s mission and goals. Activities include live music, kids’ activities, refreshments, and a short presentation of speakers highlighting the natural and historical significance of the Park. FoWL aspires to provide stewardship, education, and advocacy for the Park in coordination with the Department of Natural Resources.

Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve includes a waterfowl refuge that is used by thousands of migratory waterfowl in the spring and fall, as well as for breeding during the summer months. Eagles and trumpeter swans have been observed nesting this year. The park is also home to many unique plants, insects, songbirds, and other wildlife.
