The 2025 Blacksmith Shop Concert Series kicks off this week with an evening of bluegrass and bluegrass-adjacent music with Alex Belhaj, Jason Dennie, Grant Flick, and Ryan Shea on Friday, September 19, from 7:30pm to 9pm. The concert, which is a fundraiser for the Manchester Area Historical Society, will be held in the Blacksmith Shop located at 324 E Main St. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the door or ahead of time on Eventbrite, which you can get to from the historical society’s website https://mahsmi.org/ by clicking on the event on their calendar. Tickets for under 18 are $10 each. The season's series is in honor of Mark Palms.
The Manchester Blacksmith Shop is a unique venue for a concert. Built in 1877 as a wagon factory where carriages and sleighs were built, it eventually was used as a blacksmith shop. Today it is a thriving hands-on museum with a working forge used by blacksmiths to demonstrate, teach, and provide blacksmithing opportunities for anyone interested. The blacksmith shop is open every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
Coming up next in the Blacksmith Shop Concert Series on Saturday, October 18, at 7:30pm, is Brian Oberlin.
