Tammy James, Senior Branch Office Administrator for Colleen Newton’s Edward Jones office here in Manchester, spent October 14 giving back. And now she and the branch as a whole will be extending that community service through the end of the year with a charity drive!
Edward Jones grants employees one paid day a year to spend volunteering anywhere they choose. James, along with 12 other Edward Jones Branch Office Administrators, spent their Day of Caring volunteering at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) in Ann Arbor.
James stated, “This is my fifth year volunteering at HSHV. It was a great day. We helped with a variety of different tasks.”

She added that the best part of the day was that they all took a picture with “Ducky,” who, she explained, is a special golden boy who’d been at the shelter for a long period of time, saying, “They posted a picture taken of all of us laying around Ducky on his kennel and by the next day he had a pending adoption and has now found his forever home! This made the day extra special to all of us! We wish we could get all of them adopted into their forever homes!”
The Edward Jones office, located at 118 E Main St, will be holding their Annual Holiday Animal Shelter Charity Drive from November 24 through December 31. There will be a red collection box outside the office and another drop box inside the lobby. Collected items will be donated to various animal shelters around the area.
They are collecting:
- Gently used or new bath towels (The bigger, the better!)
- Queen-sized blankets and smaller, and pet beds that can be laundered in a normal washing machine (Bigger beds and blankets unfortunately can’t be laundered)
- Pet food in the original bag/can up to 3 months after the expiration date
- Scoop-able cat litter and lightweight litter
- Dog treats, spray cheese, peanut butter (Xylitol-free, please!)
- Canned dog food
- Waterless pet shampoo, alcohol (must be 70% CLEAR alcohol — no scent)
- Liquid Vicks VapoSteam (for steam vaporizers)
- Small cat furniture
- Gift cards from places like Amazon.com, pet supply stores, and office supply stores
- Ziploc bags — both gallon and quart sizes
- 4health Chicken and Vegetables dog food from Tractor Supply Co.
- Bleach
- Purina Cat Chow Gentle
- Paper towels
James stated, “We have been so blessed and extremely grateful for the support of the Manchester community and surrounding area. Last year we were overwhelmed with happiness by all of the supplies that were dropped by our office. Donations were gifted to four different shelters. My vehicle was packed full!”
