On October 22, the Manchester School District hosted a training event aimed at enhancing the skills of educators and enthusiasts in the field of drone technology.

The primary focus of the training was to empower participants to confidently operate the soccer drone. Manchester Jr/Sr High School teacher Joseph Freeman explained that the soccer drone is used in a national competition that the school can participate in in the future. He stated, “It is a game of maneuvering and manipulation to score goals on the other team. Imagine Harry Potter Quidditch with drones…”

The agenda included hands-on flying sessions, where attendees learned flying maneuvers and received tips for effective classroom management. Teachers attended from school districts in Washtenaw County and Lenawee County. Also in attendance were representatives from Aeronautics and Aviation Manufacturing businesses, including teams from the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan.

Freeman stated, “We volunteered Manchester to host this event to highlight the great things happening at our school. We hope to offer some more in-depth aeronautics manufacturing courses, so it was a great opportunity for us to highlight our excitement for the programs.”
