This year the Christmas in the Village parade is moving from Friday evening to Saturday evening, closing off the event instead of kicking it off. It will remain a lighted evening parade!

Everyone is invited to decorate their vehicle, lawnmower, animal, or bike with lights and join in. Just show up at Emanuel Church’s parking lot, 324 W Main St, at 5:45pm on Saturday, December 6. No registration is necessary. This is a no- candy parade. The parade will start at 6pm and travel east down Main Street to Adrian Street and end at the Mill porch. The Manchester High School marching band will be participating.

New this year, the Manchester Men’s Club will be holding a Christmas parade food drive. They are encouraging paradegoers to bring non-perishable food with them to the parade. They will have donation stations throughout downtown. After the parade, they will collect it all and donate it to the Community Resource Center. They suggest nonperishable proteins like canned tuna and peanut butter; whole-grain staples such as pasta and brown rice; shelf-stable fruits and vegetables; cooking oil; spices; kid-friendly items like boxed mac and cheese and cereal; and essential household items like paper towels, soap, and diapers.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
