Obituary: William Lee Griffin

William Lee Griffin (June 24, 1945 – November 25, 2025)
William Lee Griffin, 80, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Chelsea Hospital. He was born on June 24, 1945, in Pontiac, Mich., to William and Hazel (Estes) Griffin. Bill married the love of his life, Susan Cooley, on June 18, 1966, in Pontiac, Mich. He will be remembered as a good guy who was devoted to his family and the community in which he lived. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Waterford Kettering High School, class of 1963, and received his master’s from Central Michigan University. Bill lovingly chaperoned his daughter’s Girl Scout field trips. He was involved with the Washtenaw County 4-H and the Saline Community Fair as a fair board member and director of the llama barn. Bill had a vast collection of coins and was a true rock hound. He proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces from 1967 to 1969. Bill and Sue traveled extensively in the United States even taking a three-month camping trip throughout the national parks, filling their PT Cruiser with rocks. For relaxation, Bill played the accordion. He loved music and supported the arts and music at the Music Underground held at RRD Distillery and the Holler Fest at the Frog Holler Vegetable Farm. Bill was a ruthless card player who set out to win. But above all, he valued his time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 1/2 years, Sue; his daughter, Laura (Jesse) Jarels; one grandson, Zachary Jarels; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army in Bill’s name. Please leave a message of comfort for Bill’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
