More resisters are showing up across the country as we walk this path in utter disbelief.
On November 18, six people (including Michigan Senator Elisa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, decorated war veteran senator), reminded military personnel “not to follow illegal orders.” The president then accused them of being traitors and called for their arrests and trials. Although the message from these six patriots was directed to military personnel, it could also be directed to Americans to “not give up the ship,” as we try to protect people and the earth against the violence perpetrated by this current administration.
It takes courage and determination to keep up the resistance. It can be a lonely venture as many people still look away and are silent but the need is great. Solidarity and support at protests buoy our weary hearts. When the incomprehension of “How can this even be happening!” causes exhaustion, we pick ourselves up and meet the need. We seize the opportunity to be visible, and stand our ground to help others.
Join us this Friday, December 5, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, at the 4-Corners in Manchester to peacefully raise our voices. Chairs are welcome. Stay as long as you’re able. Street parking is available. We appreciate the support you give. We’ve got a ways to go to undo what has happened before we can start to rebuild.
Reminder: Keep donating to the food pantry. Money is helpful to buy what is needed and small donations count! See the Community Resource Center’s website at https://manchestercrc.org/ to donate online or to find out when they are open to donate food. Food scarcity is real and hurting our neighbors.
