You can help put toys under a child’s Christmas tree, right here in Manchester. The Manchester Township Fire Department and the Dutchmen Firefighters Association are running their annual Toys for Tots campaign. All the toys collected will be remain in the Manchester area.
Bring your new, unwrapped toys to any of the following collection sites: Manchester Ace Hardware, Chuck’s Auto Repair, Manchester District Library, Bank Michigan, Old National Bank, River Raisin Distillery, Linda’s Diner, and the Manchester Township Office/Fire Department until December 19.
All of the toys collected by December 10 will be donated to the Kid’s Christmas sponsored by the Manchester Lions Club and Manchester Family Services.
Jeff Mann, coordinator of Manchester’s Toys for Tots stated that there are usually many items for the younger kids, but the biggest need is for the older kids. He added, “Some suggestions for them include, but are not limited to, sporting equipment/bags/balls, books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, watch/wallet gift sets, bath gift sets, board games, skateboards, curling irons, hair straighteners, and hair dryers just to name a few.” He noted that all donations will be used.
Anyone that is in need of toys or wants more information can call the Manchester Township Fire Department business line at 734-428-9439 and leave a message; their call will be returned.
Mann concluded, “Many thanks to everyone who has donated toys and items for this great cause.”
