NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – EXTRACTION PERMIT RENEWAL APPLICATION
STONECO-ESCH ROAD GRAVEL PIT – REVISED MINING PLAN

Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 in the Freedom Township Hall (11508 Pleasant Lake Road) to invite public comment on an Extraction Permit Renewal application for the Stoneco – Michigan Materials and Aggregate Co. Esch Road Gravel Pit operation on parcels #N-14-30-200-005, – 006, -008 & -009 (152.45 acres) south of Pleasant Lake Road between Kothe Road and Esch Road in the NW¼ of Section 30 and in the A-R (Agricultural-Resource) zoning district.

The application includes a revised Mining Plan for operations planned to begin in 2026, an updated Reclamation Plan for future agricultural use of the reclaimed land following completion of mining operations, and a proposed haul route for trucks limited to Class B loads via Esch Road and Pleasant Lake Road.

Per the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals who require special accommodations should contact the Township Clerk at least seven days prior to the hearing. The regular Planning Commission meeting will follow the scheduled public hearings.
