December was a busy month at our Manchester Senior Center. Lots of fun and hard at work volunteering to provide services to our community.
On December 12 almost 30 of us rode the WAVE bus to Turkeyville to enjoy a great lunch and a performance of “The Naughty List.”
December 13 was our first annual Christmas celebration with games, prizes, and dinner catered by Frank’s Place. A couple of guys surprised us with their dance moves to keep prizes.
On December 19 we hosted the mobile Secretary of State. On-site services included driver license and license plate renewals and answers to a lot of questions. They are scheduled to come back on March 18.
Winter is upon us so we packed home emergency kits with water, flashlight, toothbrush and paste, sanitizer, and much more for seniors to pick up at the center.
And, of course, there is cardio drumming on Monday afternoon, Monday night euchre, Tuesday and Thursday lunches, line dancing lessons Thursday afternoon, exercise classes, TOPS meetings, puzzles to work on, and games like Rummikub, Bunco, and cribbage to play.
We are so excited to announce that we have hired an executive director, Holly McDermott, to join us beginning January 5. Be sure to stop by the center to welcome her to Manchester.
All of this has been made possible by donations from our amazingly generous community, wonderful grants, and the Washtenaw County Senior Millage.
We are anxious for a year of growth and expansion in 2026!
