Chelsea Hospital is offering a free youth mental-health first-aid virtual training to teach participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance-use challenges among youth. You’ll build skills and confidence you need to support youth in your community. Learners complete a two-hour, self-paced online course and participate in a five-hour, in-person, instructor-led training.

Who should get trained? School staff, parents, caregivers, coaches, camp counselors, first responders, youth group leaders, community members, and anyone who cares about the well-being of youth in their community! Course topics include common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance-use challenges; how to interact with a young person in crisis; how to connect a young person to help; and expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying.

The location is virtual and takes place on January 20, from 10am to 3pm. The course is open to anyone 18 and older and is free for all participants. Registration is required and closes January 16 at 5pm. To register, visit tinyurl.com/ymhfa0120.
