Obituary: Robert Steven “Steve” Walker

Robert Steven “Steve” Walker (August 10, 1945 – January 8, 2026)
Robert Steven “Steve” Walker of Manchester, Mich., formerly of Indiana, Texas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Japan, and England, age 80, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospice in Jackson. He was born August 10, 1945, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Robert Leroy and Elizabeth Marie (Lemeron) Walker.
Steve served in the U.S. Air Force, including in England, from 1967 to 1971. He went to Burnside-Ott Aviation Training Center to become a pilot and pilot instructor. Steve flew for Zantop Airways out of Willow Run from 1977 to 1978. He then flew for the Air Transport Section at General Motors from 1979 to 2004. Steve and his wife, Brenda, acted as contractors for their own home. Steve was an avid reader. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing games, motorcycles, and Formula One Racing.
Steve is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Osborne, whom he married on December 1, 1978, in Ypsilanti; his daughter, Michelle Ann (Juan) Johnson of Ypsilanti; stepdaughter, Tracy Lynn (Ken) Kitley of Stockbridge; sister, Charlotte A. (Lewis) Ruge of Rhinebeck, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Desmond, Justin, John Robert, Nicole (Sean Wood), and Nialauryn; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
No public services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, https://www.hshv.org/. Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
