SYNOPSIS OF MEETING MINUTES

January 13, 2026, Regular Board Meeting

Held in person at the Freedom Town Hall 

Meeting called to order at 8:01pm 

Members present: Lindemann, Bristle, Layher, Huehl, Schaible absent-none   5 public in attendance.

The board heard public comments, communications received, and treasurer, clerk, planning commission, ordinance enforcement officer and zoning administrator’s reports. 

Items approved:

  1. Minutes for December 9, 2025
  2. November Treasurer’s report
  3. To adopt ordinance 55 Blight Ordinance with suggestions from the twp. attorney.
  4. To adopt Ordinance 43-H to amend the official zoning map of Freedom Township. The following tract of land is hereby rezoned from the A-R (Agricultural Resource) zoning district to the I-1 (Industrial-Research) zoning district: approximately 19.20 acres of land located to the North side of Ellsworth Road and East side of S Fletcher Road East of 12430 Ellsworth Road and North of the Marathon Pipe Line Freedom Station site in the Southwest ¼ of Section 9, which is part of a larger 49.86 acre Parcel #N-14-09-300-011 and is depicted as Parcel B on the Washtenaw Engineering survey  (job number 33242) dated November 18, 2025, be approved for the following reasons based on findings of fact in Section 18.05.
  5. To offer Resolution 26-01 placing a temporary moratorium on approval of data centers and directing the planning commission to investigate adding data centers to the Township Ordinance and also have the Resolution reviewed by the Township Attorney.
  6. Warrants
