Public Hearing Notice

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, the Manchester Township Board of Trustees will conduct a Public Hearing, in accordance with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, PA 110 of 2006, as amended, on 11th day of March 2026, at 7:00 pm, at the Manchester Township Hall, located at 275 S. Macomb Street, Manchester, MI 48158. 

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this public hearing is to solicit public feedback on the proposed extension of the Watkins Lake Trail (Segment 2).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Watkins Lake Trail Segment 2 is a proposed extension of an existing non-motorized pathway that would extend approximately just under ¾ of a mile (0.73 miles or 3,850 feet) from the current trail terminus at Grossman Road west to the Watkins Lake County Preserve. The project proposes an eight (8) to ten (10) foot-wide paved pathway incorporating elements of universal design, intended to improve safe, accessible, and inclusive public recreation opportunities for users of varying ages and abilities, and to enhance overall trail connectivity.

The project is identified in the City of Manchester/Manchester Township Joint Parks and Recreation Master Plan (2023–2027). The Township is conducting this public hearing, in part, to gather community input prior to submitting funding requests, including an application to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF).

PARTICIPATION & WRITTEN COMMENTS:

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing and provide comments. Written comments and/or inquiries may also be submitted prior to the hearing to the Manchester Township Clerk in person, by phone at (734) 428-7090 ex. 110, or via email (dproctor@twp-manchester.org).

ACCESSIBILITY:

This notice is in compliance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act (OMA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 

Manchester Township will provide auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes .25of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities upon reasonable notice to the Manchester Township Clerk.
