Explorers and curious minds alike are invited to embark on a vibrant journey through the American South as the Manchester District Library introduces its new interactive program, Heart of the Deep South. The series kicks off on Tuesday, April 28, from 2:30 to 3:30pm, in the library’s City Room.

Designed for participants ages 9 and up, the program offers a unique, hands-on experience exploring five culturally rich states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Each session will highlight a different state, beginning with Arkansas on opening day.

Attendees can expect an engaging blend of learning and creativity. The series will feature curated books, fun and fascinating facts, and opportunities to sample traditional Southern foods. Participants will also create a personalized scrapbook, capturing their discoveries and experiences throughout the journey.

From the bayous of Louisiana to the beaches of Florida, Heart of the Deep South promises to bring the sights, tastes, and stories of the region to life in an immersive and memorable way.

Library organizers encourage families to attend one session or the entire series for the full experience. No matter how many stops participants make along the way, each promises to deliver a mix of education, culture, and fun.
