Friends of the Manchester District Library announce 2026 Book Donation Days

submitted by Brenda Bancroft, used book sale coordinator
The Friends of the Manchester District Library are inviting community members to support local literacy efforts through their 2026 Book Donation Days. These monthly events help replenish the Friends’ book sale inventory, with all proceeds benefiting library programs, resources, and community activities. Book Donation Days will take place on the second Saturday of each month from 10am to noon. The scheduled dates for this year are May 9, June 13, July 11 August 8, September 12, and October 10. Donations should be brought to the lower level of the building, with drop-off access available through the rear parking lot.
Please do not leave items outside or drop them off at other times. The Friends gladly welcome fiction books (hardcover and softcover) for all ages, non-fiction books (some exceptions may apply), DVDs, and CDs. The following materials cannot be accepted: damaged, soiled, mildewed, torn, or musty books; scratched or unplayable DVDs or CDs; VHS tapes or cassette tapes; encyclopedias; textbooks; and magazines.
As always, the Friends’ used book sale is available during regular library hours. Browsers will find a wide selection of books on both the 1st and 2nd floors of the library. Purchases from the used book sale may be paid for by placing your contribution in the honor-system boxes on the 1st and 2nd floors.
The Friends of the Manchester District Library extend their sincere appreciation for the community’s ongoing generosity!
