MHS track and field: Boys Take 2nd and Girls 4th at EJ Dome Classic, and Napoleon recap

EJ Dome Classic
Jackson, Mi the Track team had their best efforts of the season as the boys took runner-up to Jonesville at the EJ Dome Classic with 94 points on Friday May 8th. This is back-to-back years the Dutch came away with the runner-up trophy! The Girls had an outstanding night as well and took 4th place with 85 points to 1st place Whitmore Lake 118.17, Grass Lake 113, and Napoleon 94.5. One of the highlights of the night was three straight Dutchmen first places in Grant Johnson winning the 110m hurdles with a season best time of 15.01, then Siera Jedele taking 1st in the 100m Hurdles in a season best time of 16.88, and then Jayden Johnson setting a PR in winning the 100m dash in 11.29. Natasha Seaman would run a PR time in the 100m hurdles to take 3rd behind Siera in 18.50.
Grant Johnson would also win the Long Jump with a leap of 20’4.5 which almost qualified him early for States. He would also take 2nd in the 400m dash (52.07). Jayden Johnson ran a huge PR in the 200m in 22.62 and won by a big gap of over 20m! Alec Dodak would run near PR times in taking 4th in the 1600m and 2nd in the 3200m. Brennan Woods would take 2nd in the HJ with a leap of 5’10 and he would follow that up with a 5th place in the 200m in 24.81.
Valorie Hieber would take 2nd in the 300m Hurdles in a season best time of 53.25 to go along with a 4th place in Shot Put. The theme of the day in the fields events and relays was 4th place for the girls, as Olivia Woods would jump 4’8 to take 4th place in the HJ. Audrina Lauer would jump a season best distance of 14’11.75 to take 4th, and Natasha Seaman would take 4th in the Pole Vault. Our Girls 4×1 Relay of Olivia Woods, Natasha Seaman, Audrina Lauer, and Abbi Austin took 4th. The Girls 4×2 Relay ran a two second season record in 1:55.39 to take 4th with a team of Audrina Lauer, Abbi Austin, Valorie Hieber, and Siera Jedele. The 4×4 Relay of Elle Woods, Caroline Mason, Valorie Hieber, and Siera Jedele ran a season record to take 4th in 4:28.98.
The Boys 4×8 Relay cut nearly eight seconds off their best time in taking 3rd place in 8:44.52. This team consisted of Cade Sayer, Justin Gale, Alec Dodak, and Gavin Horky. The Boys 4×2 Relay would take 3rd with a team of Wesley Earhart, Ethan Hittle, Gavin Lindeman, and Jayden Johnson in 1:35.05. This same group of four would take 5th in the 4×1 Relay but would cut over a second off their season best time to run a 45.92. The Girls 4×8 Relay of Elle Woods, Charlotte Williams, Amanda Hieber, and Caroline Mason would run a season best time of 12:33.94 to take 5th and medal.
In the Discus, Ava Rentfro would grab a medal with her 6th place finish! Elle Woods ran a PR time of 1:05.99 to take 6th in the 400m! Teagan Clarke would take 7th in Pole Vault. Abbi Austin would take 7th in Long Jump. Audrina Lauer would take 7th in the 100m. Caroline Mason would run a PR in the 800m at 2:40.11 to take 8th place. Gavin Horky would take 7th in the 400m. Liam Pierce would take 8th in the 3200m in a PR time of 11:52.72. Gavin Lindeman would take 8th in the Long Jump. Ethan Hittle and Eli Finnegan would tie for 8th in the Pole Vault.

Last Chance Pre-Regional at Napoleon
Napoleon, Mi the Dutch had their last competition before their Regional on Monday May 11th. Grant Johnson won the Long Jump and 300m Hurdles, as well as ran a great anchor leg on the 2nd place 4x400m Relay team that nearly early qualified for States. The rest of the team consisted of Brennan Woods, Cade Sayer, and Gavin Horky. On the Girls side, Siera Jedele would take 1st in the 300m hurdles in a season best time and 3rd in the 100m hurdles in her 2nd best time of the season. She would also anchor the 3rd place 4x400m Relay team that also consisted of Elle Woods, Caroline Mason, and Valorie Hieber. Elle Woods would take 3rd in the 400m dash.
Valorie Hieber would take 3rd in Shot Put, 4th in the 300m hurdles (season best time), and a new event in the 100m hurdles in a Regional qualifying time of 17.79 for 4th place overall. Michael Navitskis would run season best times in both hurdles as he would take 2nd in the 110m hurdles in 17.23 and 300m hurdles in 45.29. Natasha Seaman would tie a PR in vaulting 8’0 in PV and taking 3rd place. Alec Dodak would take 4th in the 1600m. Gavin Lindeman would take 3rd place in Long Jump. Brennan Woods would take 4th in High Jump and 5th in Long Jump. Our Boys 4x100m Relay team of Wesley Earhart, Ethan Hittle, Gavin Lindeman, and Gavin Horky took 4th overall.
