Adventure is calling! Join the Manchester District Library on Thursday, May 28 at 5pm for an exciting virtual journey to one of America’s most breathtaking national parks and earn an official Mount Rainier National Park Junior Ranger Badge.
Participants will explore the wonders of Mount Rainier National Park while completing the official Junior Ranger workbook and learning about the park’s wildlife, landscapes, and history. The experience will wrap up with a special Junior Ranger swearing-in ceremony and live Ranger Program led by a National Park Ranger Chelsea via Zoom at 6pm.
Immediately after this, at 6pm, community members are invited to attend a virtual presentation featuring an overview of Mount Rainier National Park, one of America’s most iconic national parks. Ranger Chelsea will share insights about the park’s stunning scenery, wildlife, glaciers, and what it’s like working as a national park ranger.
Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Chelsea has worked at several national parks throughout her career, including Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park. She has now spent the last four years at Mount Rainier National Park, a destination she says had long been a dream location because of its spectacular views, wildflowers, wildlife, and glaciers.
“Working at Mount Rainier had been a dream of mine for many years because of the views, wildlife, flowers, and especially the glaciers,” Chelsea shared. “I am very excited to discuss more about the park!”
The evening will conclude with a live question-and-answer session, giving attendees the opportunity to connect directly with Ranger Chelsea and learn more about life in the National Park system.
These programs are both open to all ages, but advance registration is requested. Sign up at the circulation desk, call (734) 428-8045, or register online using the library registration form. These events will take place in the City Room on the lower level of the Manchester District Library located at 912 City Road.
