What is AI…that is, Artificial Intelligence?  Frankly, I have no idea and I suspect that most of my friends, relatives, neighbors, readers of this newspaper and folks I have never met have no idea what it is either. Somehow it seems related to ChatGPT and I have no idea what that is either or how it works..

I do know that whether we like it or not, it’s here. And like electricity and the internet when they first appeared, we are going to have to learn to live with something that will radically change our lives.

In his class at the Manchester Village Room, 912 City Road (lower level) on May 28 at 10am, long-time Adult Learners Institute (ALI) instructor, Steve Daut will point out that the idea of artificial intelligence is not all that new. The ancient Greeks thought of it and the first neural networks were built in the 1940s, before some of us were born. He will explain the potential benefits and dangers of this new technology and hopefully either relieve some of our fears…or give us new ones.

The class is also available on Zoom. For more information and to register go to www.alimichigan.org. Or email at:  info@alimichigan.org.
