On Wednesday, June 3, the children of Luther C. Klager Elementary School were treated to a double dose of fun. At lunch time, tables and picnic blankets were set up outside for the children to enjoy a cookout. School Board member Brandon Woods was on hand to roast hot dogs for the children while the food service and administrative team served the children. The children were delighted as they selected their favorite picnic foods, then joined their friends for their grade level picnics under the shade tree.
In the afternoon, a color run event was set up on the playground. Families were on hand to cheer the children as they ran. Each grade level was given a white t-shirt and allowed a turn to run around the playground loop to music as their shirts were squirted with colored chalk by faculty and staff. Children were tickled by the fun colors they ran through and thrilled with the popsicles they received at the end of their run on such a hot day. At the end of the event, the children acknowledged the retirement of their beloved gym teacher, “Mr. B”, aka, Bryan Barnard.
A tremendous thank you is extended to all who pitched in to make the day a success. Families helped to pay for the shirts. School employees volunteered their time above and beyond the school day to prepare for the event. Thank you to everyone for making a memorable day for the children!
