HSHV to rehome 30 cats and kittens from Manchester, can you help?

Thirty cats were rescued by the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) from a home in Manchester. The owner brought several sick cats to the shelter when she asked for help for many still in her home. Rescue officers arrived to find cats ranging from young kittens to seniors. HSHV’s veterinary and animal care teams immediately began addressing any medical and behavioral needs. 

“This is exactly the kind of outcome we hope for when someone finds themselves in over their head,” said Eric Wright, HSHV’s Manager of Cruelty Investigations. “We appreciate that this owner reached out before the situation became even more serious … now we can find these cats loving homes quickly.”

“This is a very challenging time of year to take in 30 extra kitties at once,” said Tanya Hilgendorf, HSHV’s President and CEO. “We already have 590 animals in our care right now. But every one deserves a chance at a healthy, loving future,” she continued. “We’re… proud of our team, and grateful to our generous donors for making rescues like this possible. This is a good example of how access to compassionate community support can make a world of difference.”

HSHV staff say now is an excellent time of year to consider adopting a cat or dog. These cats will become available for adoption once medical and behavioral care are complete. Interested adopters can visit HSHV’s website or follow the shelter on social media for updates.
