Summer is in full swing at the Manchester District Library, and the library is offering a full lineup of weekly programs and special events for children, teens, families, and homeschoolers throughout the season.
Families looking for creative activities can stop by every Monday afternoon for Arts and Crafts Time from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Each week features a different theme and project, giving kids the chance to explore their creativity and make something new to take home.
Young homeschool families can also enjoy a special summer gathering on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 11am for Young Homeschoolers Storytime. This summertime story hour offers a fun and relaxed opportunity for young learners to gather for stories and social time.
Tuesdays bring one of the library’s most beloved programs, Family Storytime, held each week at 11am. Led by Miss Abby and occasional special guest readers, Family Storytime features a variety of stories, music, and hands-on activities. The program is recommended for preschool-aged children accompanied by an adult.
For kids and teens who enjoy games and friendly competition, Wario Wednesday takes place every Wednesday from 3:30pm to 4:45pm. Participants of all ages are invited to join the fun by racing in Mario Kart or battling it out in Super Smash Bros.
On Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, older kids can sharpen their artistic storytelling skills in Cartooning 101. Designed for ages 9 and up, the class gives aspiring artists a chance to learn how to bring drawings to life and turn simple doodles into illustrations.
Readers can wrap up the week each Friday with the library’s Graphic Novel Club, held from 3:15pm to 4pm. for ages 10–17. This casual weekly book club invites participants to finish a short graphic novel each week and come ready to discuss it. Whether they want to speculate about the ending, debate favorite characters and relationships, or create fan art, the Graphic Novel Club offers a fun way to make reading a social experience.
In addition to its weekly programs, the Manchester District Library will also host several special summer events, including an Ice Cream Social and programs featuring both the Sloan Museum and Leslie Nature Center.
And don’t forget Bingo happening every first Thursday at 6:30pm. of every month!
With something happening nearly every day of the week, the Manchester District Library continues to offer engaging opportunities for all ages to read, create, play, and connect this summer.
