The City of Manchester has received satisfactory water quality test results for all areas affected by this week’s precautionary boil water advisory.
Effective immediately, the precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted for all properties previously included in the advisory. The water has been tested by a certified laboratory and meets all State of Michigan drinking water standards.
Residents may now resume normal use of their tap water for drinking, preparing food, making ice, brushing teeth, and all other household purposes without the need to boil water.
The City appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our residents throughout this precautionary advisory. While the advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution following the temporary loss of water pressure associated with the downtown valve repair, protecting the safety of our drinking water remains our highest priority.
EDITOR’s NOTE 12:30pm July 30, 2026: Boil Water Advisory lifted for most properties
The City of Manchester has received satisfactory water quality test results for the majority of the area affected by this week’s precautionary boil water advisory.
Effective immediately, the precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted for all properties previously included in the advisory, with the exception of the properties highlighted in yellow on the attached map as additional work was completed yesterday that impacted those residences.
The remaining properties in the yellow-highlighted area continue to be under the precautionary boil water advisory while additional water quality samples complete the required laboratory testing process. Those results are expected on Friday afternoon, and if they meet all State of Michigan drinking water standards, the advisory for those remaining properties will be lifted at that time.
Residents within the yellow-highlighted area should continue to boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, preparing food, making ice, brushing teeth, or any other consumption purposes until the City announces that the advisory has been lifted.
The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of our residents throughout this precautionary advisory. Protecting the safety of our drinking water remains our highest priority, and we will provide an additional update as soon as the remaining laboratory results are available.

EDITOR’s NOTE 3:30pm July 28, 2026: Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Update from City
Earlier today, the City of Manchester completed a planned valve repair in downtown Manchester. Customers directly affected by the scheduled water shutdown received mailed notifications and door notices in advance of the work.
During the repair, the City has since learned that reducing a valve that was not directly part of the repair may have temporarily affected water service in additional areas of the community beyond those originally identified. Although it appears that water pressure remained above 20 psi in the immediate work area, some properties west of the River Raisin may have experienced a brief loss of water or significantly reduced water pressure.
Out of an abundance of caution, the City is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory for customers west of the River Raisin until further notice.
The City has collected water quality samples, which are currently being analyzed by a certified laboratory. If testing confirms the water meets all State of Michigan drinking water standards, the precautionary boil water advisory is expected to be lifted on the morning of Thursday, July 30.
During the advisory, residents in the affected area should boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, preparing food, making ice, brushing teeth, or any other consumption purposes.
The City appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding as we complete this work and verify the safety of the water supply. Additional updates will be provided as laboratory results become available.

The City of Manchester will conduct several important water-system projects during the week of July 27–31, 2026, including two water distribution system repairs. While these projects are necessary to maintain and improve the City’s drinking-water system, residents in limited areas may experience temporary service interruptions or be subject to precautionary boil-water advisories.
Downtown Valve Repair — July 28
On Tuesday, July 28, the City will complete a valve repair in downtown Manchester.
Customers directly affected by this work have already received mailed notifications and door notices. Following the repair, a precautionary boil-water advisory will be issued only for those affected properties while water quality samples are collected and analyzed.
The City expects water service to be restored the same day. If laboratory testing confirms the water meets all state drinking water standards, the boil-water advisory is expected to be lifted on the morning of Thursday, July 30.
W. Main Street Hydrant Repair — July 29
A second water system improvement project is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, involving a hydrant repair on West Main Street.
As with the downtown repair, only customers in the affected area have been notified and will be subject to a precautionary boil-water advisory following the repair while bacteriological samples are collected.
Pending satisfactory laboratory results, this advisory is expected to be lifted on the afternoon of Friday, July 31.
Residents Not Receiving Notices Are Not Affected
The City emphasizes that only residents and businesses that receive a mailed notice, a door notice, or a boil-water advisory are affected by these projects. Residents who do not receive one of these notices are not impacted and may continue using their water as normal.
The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as these infrastructure improvements are completed. These projects are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and reliable drinking-water system.
