On June 17, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) closed the intersection of Scio Church Rd and Zeeb Rd in Lodi and Scio townships to construct a roundabout. While this is not technically in the Manchester area, this is one of the main paths to get to the eastern half of the county from Manchester, so many Manchester residents pass through this intersection on a regular basis. Today they have announced that they are delaying the reopening of the Scio Church Rd and Zeeb Rd intersection because of damage.
WCRC reported, “Overnight between Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19, a motorist deliberately cut the zip ties on safety barricades to bypass the closure. The vehicle drove over freshly poured concrete and destroyed essential load transfer bars. Some concrete panels must be replaced which is delaying the completion of the project until the middle of September.”
The intersection of Scio Church Rd at Zeeb Rd remains closed to all traffic. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour. All truck traffic is to follow the detour using Pleasant Lake Rd and Wagner Rd.
