WCSO: Beware of scams

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is still receiving increased reports of phone, email and text SCAMS within our communities claiming to be from Sheriff’s Office Employees. The offenders of these SCAMS now use A.I. and other technology which may look like our current information making them seem legitimate and trustworthy. IT IS NOT US! These Scammers require the receiver to send money, purchase gift cards or other financial mediums and threaten (you or someone you know) with incarceration, arrest, detention or other penalties if you don’t comply.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office DOES NOT AND WILL NOT ask for money, gift cards or financial compensation to be given specifically to ANY individual employee or to the Office in general. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office encourages the community to “Stop, Think, Check and Verify ALL electronic communications claiming to be from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office or our employees, through our Metro Dispatch Center by calling 734-994-2911 or 911.
